HCL to set up 100 Career Development Centres

Tiruchirapalli, May 4 (UNI) IT company HCL Infosystems Limited will set up 100 Career Development Centres (CDC) in India and abroad in the next 15 months.

Disclosing this to newspersons here today, Mr S T M Eswar, Associate Vice-President, Technical Support and Services of the company, said the company had 20 full-fledged centres in seven cities and proposed to set up similar centres in India as well as in certain overseas locations.

He said CDCs were created to generate highly skilled IT professionals with an objective to meet the increasing demand for skilled professionals for various IT and ICT organisations both in India and abroad. CDCs offer different modular courses in computer hardware, networking systems, network architecture and technology, notebooks design and architecture, hardware and software packages for those with bachelors degree in engineering, arts and science disciplines.

Mr Eswar said HCL had ambitious plans to roll out atleast 50,000 well trained and skilled IT professionals over the next three years and ensure suitable placement opportunities to the successful candidates.

Among the 100 centres planned in the next 15 months, 20 would be the company's own branch centres and the remaining would be under franchisee agreements. Depending upon the location, a franchisee was expected to invest about Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 1.5 crore and HCL would render total support to the partners.

He said that from the inception of the CDCs in August last year, HCL had churned out about 1,500 skilled candidates and all of them were able to obtain lucrative placements with packages ranging from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 1.8 lakh as CTC (Cost to the Company) for engineering graduates and for non-engineering graduates, it ranged from Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000 per month depending upon the capability of the candidate and the location of the placement, he added.
