Haryana disburses Rs 2279 cr for wheat purchase
Chandigarh, May 4 (UNI) The Haryana government has disbursed a sum of Rs 2279 crore to farmers for the purchase of their 26.81 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of wheat through various procuring agencies from the 360 mandis of the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that out of the total wheat arrival of 29.83 lakh MTs, 26.81 lakh MTs had been procured by the six government procuring agencies while the traders had purchased 3.02 lakh MTs.
He said HAFED had made the payment of Rs 879 crore for the purchase of 10.34 lakh MTs while Food and Supplies Department had disbursed a sum of Rs 541.84 crore for the purchase of 6.37 lakh MTs of wheat. Food Corporation of India had made the payment of Rs 252.18 crore for the purcahse of 2.96 lakh MTs.
Similarly, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation had disbursed Rs 221.70 crore for the purchase of 2.60 lakh MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation had paid Rs 205.58 crore for the purchase of 2.41 lakh MTs of wheat. Besides Confed had purchased 2.10 lakh MTs of wheat on a payment of Rs 178.84, he added.
