Foreign reserves escalate to USD 204.135 billion

Mumbai, May 4 (UNI) India's foreign reserves continue to be in a rising spell this week.

The total foreign reserves rose to USD 204.135 billion from USD 203.881 billion a week back, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in its weekly stastistical supplement today.

The total gold reserves is at 6.784 billion whereas the foreign curency assets stood at 196.877 billion.

India's reserve position in the international monetary fund is at 463 million, said the report.

The central bank said the foreign currency assets expressed in US dollar terms included the effect of appreciation or depreciation of other currencies held in its reserves such as euro, pound and yen.

The foreign exchange reserves include India's reserve tranche position in the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the bank added.
