Fire engulfs motor parts company

Pune, May 4 (UNI) A major fire broke out in the motor parts manufacturing company for 'Indica cars', near IT park Hinjewadi, on the Mumbai-Pune expressway today.

According to fire brigade officials, the fire broke out in the Launch Polymer Company, manufacturing spare parts for Tata Indica, at 1500 hrs. Fifteen fire tenders put out the fire after battling the flames for about two hours. No loss of life was reported.

The impact of the fire was so great that it spread to the next door company, which manufatures small and big compressors. The loss of property has to ascertained, fire brigade officer S B Sagavekar said.

Fire tenders from Bajaj Auto and nearby companies also rushed to the spot and aided in bringing the huge fire under control.

The fire was possibly ignited due to a spark in the raw material used in the manufacture of compressors, sources said.

The city police also rushed to the spot to investigate the cause of fire but had not come to any conclusion tonight.
