Mumbai all set to welcome largest jetliner A-380

Mumbai, May 4: Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) is all set to welcome the world's largest jetliner 'Airbus A-380', next week as part of its route testing flight to check preparedness of airports.

In order to facilitate the visit, MIAL has undertaken various preparations at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA).

The A-380 will land on the main runway 09/27 and will exit it through taxiway B4, which is the first exit after the intersection of the main runway and cross-runway. A Follow-Me vehicle, with support staff from Airbus, will be provided to escort the aircraft to the parking bay.

The A-380 will park at Bay 41, which is located at the main apron area at the International terminal and is connected through an aerobridge with Terminal 2A. The runway inspections will be carried out after landing and take-off of the aircraft.

An extensive watering programme will be undertaken before landing and departure to ensure that graded areas along the runway are damp in order to prevent any dust damage to aircraft, a statement said.
