Call money rates open at 8.25-8.50 per cent

Mumbai, May 4 (UNI) Call money rates opened low at 8.25-8.50 per cent on Friday compared to previous close of 9.00 to 9.25 per cent.

Investors were caught between data expected to show an easing in inflation and an expected bond auction announcement. The yield on the 10-year bond was 8.15 per cent, unchanged from the previous close.

Volumes were low on the central bank's electronic trading platform at Rs 55 crore, dealers said.

The central bank raised its key lending rate five times in the fiscal year that ended on March 31.

Investors expect the government to announce details of a bond tender on Friday. According to the central bank's issuance calendar, the government is expected to sell USD 2.4 billion worth of bonds between May 4 and 11.
