Bus accident claims two lives

Dehra Dun, May 4 (UNI) At least two people were killed and eight others injured, four of them seriously, in a bus accident at Champawat district today.

According to the Champawat District administration sources, a jeep carrying a marriage party heading for Shyamtal from Chakkarpur fell into a gorge at Sukhidhang, killing two passengers on the spot.

All the injured have been admitted to the Tanakpur Hospital.

Chief Minister Maj Gen (Retd) BC Khanduri announced an ex gratia of Rs 50,000 each to the family of the deceased, Rs 20,000 to the seriously injured and Rs 5,000 each to others.
