Amarinder vows to fight SAD-BJP 'repressive' machinery

Chandigarh, May 4 (UNI) Vowing to fight the "repression" let loose by the SAD-BJP government against Congressmen in Punjab, former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh today said that his party would launch a movement with the support of the people in the state to counter the "political vendetta let loose in the state".

" We will not allow our people to be targeted", he said while addressing a media conference here.

Claiming unity with the state Congress, he said that he alongwith state party chief Shamsher Singh Dullo and Leader of the Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal would unitedly take on the SAD-BJP government. He alleged that false cases were being registered against Congress workers and even persons who had helped the party in the assembly polls.

Asked whether he would even defend corrupt Congressmen in case cases were registered against them, the former chief minister shot back " I will defend all my (former) ministers, I will defend all my colleagues". He maintained that he would even defend his high profile former media adviser B I S Chahal who 'fled' the country soon after the assembly polls in Punjab and is currently in the UK.

Challenging the government to proove the charges of corruption leveled against him in the multi crorer Ludhiana City Centre scam probed by the Vigilance Bureau, Capt Singh that he had already expressed his desire to join in the investigations but the government had not summoned him so far. "Summon me where ever you want and i will go", he said while pointing out that for the last one month after his return from the UK he had been waiting for the Vigilance Bureau to summon him.

" Badal and his Vigilance cannot hold me guilty, it is for the courts to decided", he said while pointing out that he had no faith in the Vigilance Bureau. " Let Badal put his fingers on anyone and i will defend him", he added.
