ACB lodge case against RBSE chairman

Jaipur, May 4 (UNI) The state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has lodged cases against Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) chairman P C Vyas along with seven other members of purchase committee for allegedly using substandard paper for printing books for distance education.

ACB director general P K Tiwari said apart from the RBSE chairman, corruption cases have been lodged against seven other members including financial advisor Rajesh Sharma; director, Exams, R P Gupta; Director, Education Purushottam Mantri; deputy secretary P C Mahawar; assistant director, Distance Education Publication, S N Acharya; deputy director, Education A R Khan, Ms Adarsh Madan and two printers : Chopra Offest Printers and Agarwal Trading Company of Jodhpur.

The RBSE selected the Jodhpur printers to print distance education books through a tender called on July 27, 1999, Mr Tiwari said adding that the Board made the payments despite the printers using substandard paper for the books and incurred losses running into lakhs of rupees.

On investigations, the Board found that Vyas had set up a special purchase committee for printing the books for distance education.

The committee handled the entire project from tender till payment making Vyas and committee members responsible.
