Two ministers appear before Lok Ayukta in Assets case
Bangalore, May 3 (UNI) Two Karnataka ministers- Youth Services minister Alkod Hanumanthappa and Agriculture Marketing Minister Sharanabasappa Gowda Darshanapur today appeared before Lok Ayukta N Santosh Hegde to submit statements over the delay in filing details of their assets and liabilities.
The Lok Ayukta had summoned the two ministers aa they had failed to submit full details of their assets, as the one filed earlier was rejected by him as incomplete. The two ministers had later submitted full details albeit two days late.
Justice Hegde had stated that he would initiate criminal action against the two ministers and 11 legislators for failing to file complete assets details for the year 2005-06 before the dead line ended on April 28. The eleven legislators were yet to submit the details and have been summoned to appear on May seven.
On April 11, the Lok Ayukta had served notices to 135 legislators including some ministers for filing incomplete asset details.
Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Sriramulu also appeared before the the Justice Hegde after he was served show-cause notice for his derogatory remarks against the Lok Ayukta at a function in Bellary recently. The minister tendered his apologies over the incident.
