Teachers demand status quo in pay structure

Imphal, May 3 (UNI) The All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association(AMESTA) and All Manipur Secondary School Teachers' Association(AMSSTA) have urged Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to maintain status quo in the pay structure of the teachers, official sources said today.

The two associations said a Gazetted Notification was issued by the Finance Department regarding the downward revision of pay for some categories of posts in the teaching and non-teaching staff.

The AMESTA and AMSSTA alleged that the recent revision of pay was wrong as no appropriate procedure was followed.

The associations have appealed to the government to rectify the wrong within one month's time, official sources added.
