Teachers Assn takes out rally
Chennai, May 3 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu All Teachers Welfare Association today took out a rally from Munroe Statue to Guest House here today, to draw the state government's attention to their long-pending demands.
In a statement here, Association State President R Radhakrishnan said 5,700 teachers were working in the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department, government and government-aided schools since 1997 as secondary grade teachers without any promotion.
He said some of their students had now become graduate teachers and came to teach in the same schools.
Mr Radhakrishnan appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to upgrade theirs post as per their qualifications as graduate and post-graduate teachers and to extend all benifits.
Later, a delegation met School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu and other top officials of the government and presented a memorandum on the issue, he said.
