Shimla warm at 24.4 degrees

Shimla, May 2 (UNI) The maximum temperature at Shimla soared to 24.4 degree Celsius today after isolated rains in several areas of Himachal Pradesh yesterday.

The maximum temperature in the state capital rose by about eight degrees to stand at 24.4 degrees, as against 17.6 degrees recorded yesterday, while the minimum temperature dropped by a degree to 15.4, the met office said here.

The tribal district headquarters of Keylong and Rekong Peo recorded intermittent rains since morning, while overcast conditions were prevailing in tourist resorts of Shimla and Manali and tribal areas of Pangi and Bharmaur during the second half of the day.

The met office said the maximum temperatures at Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Kalpa in Kinnuar district also rose by a few degrees to stand at 33, 32.1 and 20.3 degree Celsius respectively.

Sundernagar recorded a night temperature of 15.6 followed by 15.1 degrees at Bhuntar and seven degree Celsius at Kalpa in Kinnuar.

The met office has predicted rain or thundershowers at a few places in the state during the next 24 hrs.
