RI to one under NDPS Act
Patna, May 03 (UNI) Patna Additional District and Sessions Judge B K Srivastav today awarded ten years rigorous imprisonment to a person booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh against the convict.
The convict Sanjeev Burman, who hails from Cooch Behar in West Bengal, was found guilty under the section 20 of NDPS Act.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials raided the Guwahati-Delhi Rajdhani express at Patna junction on July 22, 2005 and seized 60 kg of hemp worth Rs 1,20,000 from him.
Official sources added the consignment was being smuggled from Kolkata to Delhi.
