Rajasthan will be a power surplus state soon; Vasundhara Raje
Jaipur, May 3 (UNI) Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today expressed her government's resolve of making Rajasthan a power surplus state by 2008.
Speaking at a function marking the signing of MoU between the Rajasthan Government and the Honda Siel Cars India Ltd (HSCI) for setting up of the compnay's car manufacturing plant in Alwar district, Mrs Raje said her government had been making efforts to increase the generation capacity and energy availability through private sector's participation, and availing more power from the Central sector.
She said the government had been setting a target of adding around 4,500 MW power by the year 2011.
Expressing satisfaction over the pace of development and boost in business activities, Mrs Raje said Rajasthan had been fast emerging as important business and industrial destination for investors.
The Chief Minister said a recent World Bank report had described Jaipur as third most favoured business friendly city in the country after Bangalaroe and Hyderabad.
Welcoming HSCI for setting up its car manufacturing unit in Alwar, she reaffirmed her government's commitment for creating conducive atmoshere for fast development.
She said setting up of HSCI manufacturing unit in the state would pave way for direct or indirect investment of over Rs 6,000 crore and would generate employment avenues for over 20,000 people.
Rajasthan's Industries Minister Narpat Singh Rajvi, Minister in Embassy of Japan Toshitsugu Uesawa, HSCI President Masahiro Takedagawa and several dignitaries were present.
