Punjab govt appoints security officer for Amarinder
Chandigarh, May 3 (UNI) A day after withdrawing the CRPF security cover from the Moti Bagh palace residence of Capt Amarinder Singh at Patiala, the Punjab government today appointed a new SP (Superintendent of Police) in the security of the former chief minister.
An official release today stated that Jagmohan Singh on promotion will be the SP (security) to Capt Singh.
In addition the government shifted 17 other SP-ranking officers in the state.
In place of the CRPF, the state government has deployed personnel of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) of the Punjab Police at the Moti Bagh palace. The CRPF was withdrawn yesterday afternoon, a few hours before Capt Singh's return to Patiala after spending a month and a half outside the state following his defeat in the February assembly polls.
