Barasat, May 3 (UNI) A homoeopahty practitioner of rural sub-health centre was forced to stand under the scorching sun for hours today by a group of villagers for his "routine late" in attending the patients.

Scores of aggrieved patients and villagers to give a lession of "puntuality" to the doctor prevented him from entering the chamber and forced him to stand under sun for two hours at Biswanathpur under Degang police station in North 24 Parganas.

The local people took this step after doctor Arnab Das ignored the patients' request to come on time. They alleged the medico had been "habitually" late to report his office everyday.

Nurpur Panchayet Pradhan Sariful Biswas alleged Dr Das was granted "grace time" for an hour to join his duty at 1100 hours instead of scheduled 1000 hours. But the doctor of the government owned health centre hardly cared and was "havitually" late every day.

"This is a dereliction of duty of a public servant.", claimed Biswas and hence the punishment.
