Now SMSs through your loved ones' voice

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) Indian Mobile users will soon be able to send SMSs, which would through Motorola's new technology transform them into MMSs or animated graphics with audio at the recipients' handsets.

ColorNotes Solution, an innovative messaging service which transforms traditional voice or short messages (SMS) to multimedia messages (MMS), will soon be available in the Indian market.

CanvasM, joint venture between Tech Mahindra and Mototrola, is in talks with the two leading telecom operators in India to make this Value Added Services (VAS) application a reality soon.

''This service is being experimented in other countries and will be available in the Indian market in another three to six months,'' CanvasM CEO Jagdish Mitra told reporters here today.

The new service developed for CDMA and GSM networks will help transform traditional messaging by allowing mobile subscribers to express their emotions.

Motorola ColorNotes will also enable users to receive broadcast messages, such as news clips, stock quotes, horoscopes, jokes and more delivered by their favourite animated character.

With ColorNotes, animated characters take the words right out of consumers' mouths. Subscribers are able to choose from a library of characters, including celebrities, cartoon characters and animated objects offered by the operator to deliver their messages.

The subscribers will select from nine different emotions that the character will portray while delivering the message. When the recipient retrieves the MMS, they view the animated character and hear the sender's message.

CanvasM today also unveiled its first innovation centre at Noida, a unique experimental zone to develop, showcase and deploy next generation VAS applications with an initial headcount of 210 staff.

The innovation centre is also experimenting on other applications like mobile blogging, entertainment, commerce, TV and mobile commerce and trails are underway both overseas and India.
