Nigerian militants say six hostages to be freed

LAGOS, May 3 (Reuters) Nigerian militant group MEND said today that one if its patrols was responsible for an armed attack on an offshore oilfield in which at least six foreign workers were abducted.

But the group added in an e-mail to Reuters that it had not intended to take any more hostages, having seized another six oil workers on Tuesday, and has ordered the immediate release of the hostages taken in today's attack.
