Bhopal, May 3 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation Ltd has indicated that the hike in prices of Sanchi brand milk was temporary and would decline possibly in August, during the monsoon.

The Federation-affiliated Bhopal Dugdh Sangh recently increased prices by Re 1 on every litre of Sanchi Gold, Sanchi Taaza, Sanchi Shakti and Sanchi Smart. It was the third hike within six months.

''The hike was effected due to decline in milk availability during summer and higher cost of fodder etc. Being a cooperative society, the emphasis is to ensure that milk collectors do not suffer loss,'' Federation Managing-Director K C Gupta told UNI here today.

Fat purchased from such collectors recently became dearer by Rs 20 per kg.

''There is no milk crisis in this state due to a certain Nagpur-based institution being supplied with Sanchi milk. The decline in monsoon prices could exceed Re 1 per litre,'' said Mr Gupta.

Five Federation-affiliated sanghs in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Ujjain supply about five lakh litres daily in the state.
