Indian plane makes precautionary landing

New Delhi, May 3: An Indian (Airlines) plane carrying 112 passengers from Mumbai to Delhi today made a precautionary landing at IGI airport here.

The flight 809 landed safely at 1115 hrs despite low hydraulic failure. ''It was not an emergency landing,'' an Indian official said.

The Airbus A320 aircraft was taken to the parking bay where all passengers disembarked. The flight later left for Patna with 128 passengers on another plane.

Aviation experts say fire brigades and ambulances are alerted when an aircraft makes a precautionary landing, which is quite different from emergency on board.

Indian has an annual carriage of over eight million passengers and operates to 54 destinations in India and 18 destinations in neighbouring regions like the Gulf and southeast Asia with over 300 daily flights.

It is all set to induct the remaining 42 Airbus aircraft on order, 20 A321s, 18 A319s and 4 A320s, 9 of which are to join the present fleet of 74 aircraft in a staggered manner this year.
