Gurinder Singh Heads AISMNF

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) Indian Observer editor Gurinder Singh has been elected president of All India Small and Medium Newspapers Federation, it was announced today.

The election was part of the Federation's 42nd annual session held on May 1-2, a press statement said.

Small and medium newspapers have 'a greater responsibility' in disseminating news in rural India and must grow to discharge it, a seminar held on the occasion was told.

Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh stressed the growth of small and medium newspapers to ensure multiple access to media by all, including the poor and underprivileged.

The Federation is a registered society and its session was attended by nearly 300 delegates.
