Govt committed to ban lottery: Minister

Bangalore, May 3 (UNI) Karnataka government was committed to making the state lottery free and if necessary it would bring an ordinance for this, Minister for Lottery and Small Savings Ramachandra Gowda said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the government would make every effort to get a High Court stay order on government's lottery ban vacated.

The government would approach the division bench and the Supreme Court if necessary.

''Legal experts would be consulted to find ways to ban lottery even by issuing an Ordinance'', he said.

Mr Ramachandra Gowda said he was committed to make the state a lottery free zone and was ready to quit power if he failed to do so.
