General Motors launches Spark in Jammu

Jammu, May 3 (UNI) After New Delhi, General Motors India, the Indian subsidiary of the US-based auto giant General Motors Corp, today unveiled its minicar, Spark here in Jammu.

Vice President P Balchandran, while launching the minicar, said the Chevrolet Spark would be available in four options with the price starting from Rs 3,10,551 lakhs (Sark E) to 3,90,553 (Spark 1.0 LT).

The price of the standard version of the Spark, launched in 1998 and about 2 million of which have been sold in over 100 markets, is slightly lower than other mini-cars available in the Indian market in likes of Maruti, Hyundai and Tata Motors, he said.

''The Cheverlet Spark is the world's newest-generation compact city car. We are providing latest automobile technology with warranty of three years/one lakh kilometers,'' Mr Balchandran said.

''The Spark is one of the world's most popular mini-cars and because of its range of mini-car benifits and unmatched fuel economy, the Spark is the ideal vehicle in these times of soaring fuel costs and economic uncertainty,'' he added.
