Ferrous metal prices rise on improved industrial demand

Mumbai, May 3 (UNI) Ferrous metal prices rose on improved industrial demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In ferrous section, copper heavy and copper utensils shot up by Rs 800 and Rs 500 per quintal respectively. Brass utensils and brass cuttings also increased by Rs 500 and Rs 100 per quintal respectively on lesser stock supply.

Aluminium utensils fell by Rs 100 per quintal on thin buying support.

In non-ferrous section, copper wire bar hiked by Rs 500 per quintal, on increase of fresh demand.

Tin slab went up by Rs five per kg on improved demand.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 36,700, Copper utensils - Rs 34,000, Brass utensils - Rs 26,300, Brass cuttings - Rs 27,400 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,900.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 40,300, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,400, Zinc slabs - Rs 19,600, Lead ingots - Rs 10,000, Tin slab - Rs 760 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 2,320 (per kg).
