CRPF jawan still at large
Jammu, May 3 (UNI) Police are searching for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier, who shot at two government employees at highly-guarded Kot Bhalwal Jail near here yesterday night, official sources today said.
Sepoy Doukho Hao Dingal of 26 CRPF battalion, who fired upon two Public Health Engineering (PHE) employees at nearby water point, had left his place of posting at Central Jail along with his service SLR and 60 rounds.
The CRPF and police had launched a manhunt to nab the jawan but all in vain. ''We have recovered arms and ammunition from about 150 metres short of Kot Bhalwal Jail but the jawan is still absconding,'' an officer of 26 Battalion told UNI over phone.
The CRPF have lodged an FIR with the police and stopped the manhunt, he informed.
The SHO Gharota police station, under whose jurisdiction the incident had taken place, said police were continuing with the manhunt to nab the absconding jawan.
