Court turns down bail of customs superintendent
Patna, May 3 (UNI) Special CBI judge of Patna Radheshyam Prasad today rejected the anticipatory bail petition of former Patna customs superintendent Siywar Saran Sahay in connection with a corruption case.
According to the charges, passengers at the international airport of Gaya were allowed to leave without paying proper customs duty in 2003. The matter was exposed on August 9, 2003 following revealations by some of the passengers who, on their interception at the airport, had admitted of paying bribe to the customs officials for leaving the airport.
The loss worked out to more than Rs 1 lakh. Mr Sahay, along with three customs inspectors, were deputed at the airport. The CBI had submitted chargesheet in the case against Mr Sahay and three other customs inspectors on February 28, 2006.
