Constable slain in MP

Balaghat, MP, May 3 (UNI) A constable has been killed when a looter assaulted him while a police team was in this district's Bhandi village to arrest persons accused of loot, police said.

Varaseoni Town Inspector Mubarak Ali last night headed the team that went to apprehend Diliram Kanwre and three accomplices. Prime accused Kanwre injured Constable Chhaya Kishore with a stabbing weapon. Two of Kanwre's brothers also assaulted the personnel before fleeing.

The Constable succumbed in the district hospital. Kanwre was arrested.
