Concern Worldwide felicitates Khurana

Bhubaneswar, May 3 (UNI) Concern Worldwide Country Director Matthew Pickard today felicitated Ruchika Social Service Organisation's secretary Inderjit Khurana for receiving the World Children's Honorary Award at a function here.

The award, considered as World's Children's prize for the Rights of the Child (WCRP)-2007, was conferred upon Ms Khurana by Queen Silvia of Sweden on April 16 last.

She was the only recipient of this prestigious award from India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Pickard said Ms Khurna was one of the three finalists who had contributed to achieve their right for all children and committed the prize money of Rs.15 lakh for the cause of the marginalised children in the state. The other two were Cyntha Maung from Myanmar and Betty Makoni from Zimbabwe.

Ms Khurana, he said had been running over a hundred schools including for the railway children in major railway stations in Orissa with her innovative strategies like school on wheels, schools on the platforms and on bus terminals.
