Comprehensive industry survey gets underway in UP

Lucknow, May 3 (UNI) Indian Industries Association (IIA) has launched a comprehensive industrial survey on the various aspects of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Uttar Pradesh.

The data collected would be utilised for the benefit of MSMEs not only by IIA, but all the government and non-government agencies working for their uplift, IIA Executive Director D S Verma said here today.

''In the present scenario of globalisation and competition, it is high time for industry bodies in India to redesign activities and focus on instilling a sense of competitiveness among the MSMEs,'' he added.

The design of activities has to be need-based, which requires real and comprehensive data about various aspects of the industries, Mr Verma underlined.

IIA, the small and medium industries chamber, has designed the comprehensive survey with this objective in mind to collate relevant date and information.

Launched yesterday as a pilot project here, the survey would gradually expand to the entire state of UP and also Uttarakhand.

The data collected through this survey will be analysed and used to design following services for MSMEs -- availability of raw material on cheaper rates; loans on lower rates of interest; marketing of products; amendments in government policies/recommendations for the same in favour of the industries in general and MSME sector in particular; exploring the export potential for MSMEs; design and organise enterprise development programmes; and effective resolution of various problems faced by MSMEs at both functional and procedural levels.

IIA has appointed a survey team, which has been trained at IIA Central Office, Mr Verma informed.

The team has already started its field work, wherein they visit each individual enterprise along with an introductory letter, survey proforma and other information.

Meanwhile, IIA has appealed all the entrepreneurs to co-operate with IIA survey team for their own benefit.
