BJ fast to highlight ryots' problems in MP
Jabalpur, May 3 (UNI) Bharatiya Janshakti (BJ) General Secretary Prahlad Patel and party workers today sat on a fast in front of the Divisional Commissioner's office here to highlight problems of Madhya Pradesh's farmers in general and sugarcane-growers in particular.
During the recent first anniversary of its formation, the BJ announced that it would take to the streets to open a front against this state's BJP regime.
''According to government statistics, cane is cultivated over 70,000 ha in this state. Sixty per cent of this is in Jabalpur, Narsinghpur and Chhindwara districts. This year's output has been good but peasants are impoverished as the regime is not providing adequate support price,'' Mr Patel said in a statement.
