Bihar extends financial aid to poor ailing people

Patna, May 3 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has granted financial aid from Chief Minister's Medical Relief Fund to poor patients being treated in Delhi.

Mr Kumar directed the resident commissioner to provide the medical grant to those earning less than Rs one lakh a year.

Patients suffering from serious diseases like cancer, Brain Tumour, heart and kidney problems and spinal injuries would get the benefits.

Under the scheme patients would have to seek an estimated cost of the treatment from the hospitals and get it approved by concerned authorities.

On approval, the resident commissioner in New Delhi would sanction the fund to the patients.

A committee had also been constituted under the director in chief of the state health services to consider the case of those above the poverty line.
