Army Personnel Pledge Organs

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) A drive to promote awareness among Army personnel about the usefulness of donating organs here today brought instant results -- some 130 personnel signed pledges.

The Blood and Organ Donation Camp was organised at the Army Base Hospital here under the aegis of the Army Wives and Welfare Association (AWWA). The Camp was basically organised to promote awareness among all ranks regarding the usefulness of donating blood and organs, said an official spokesperson.

The camp was ''a huge success'' with some 220 personnel donating blood.

Notably, some 130 Army personnel and their wives pledged to donate their organs during the camp.

Along with the Blood and Organ Donation Camp, a health education campaign regarding blood donation and its benefits was also carried out on the occasion.

The camp was inaugurated by Mrs Vandana Oberoi, President of the Delhi Area AWWA. Major General KJS Oberoi, General Officer Commanding, Delhi Area -- alongwith other senior officers -- donated blood and pledged to donate organs.
