AP govt urges Centre order CBI probe into fake encounter

Hyderabad, May 3 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government today urged the Centre to order a CBI probe into the 'fake enounter' of Sohrabuddin and his wife Kausar Bi.

Following the Gujarat government's claim that the Andhra Pradesh police were also involved in the fake enounter, the state government urged the Centre to conduct a CBI enquiry to find out the facts, sources said.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters the city police Commissioner Balwinder Singh said, ''We have not received any official information from the Gujarat government. Investigation into the involvement of the state police would be conducted once the police receive confirmed information from Gujarat''.

Mr Singh said the city police would assist Gujarat police in the investigation of fake encounters.
