600th Annamayya Celebrations begin

Tallapaka, May 3 (UNI) The 600th Annamayya Jayanthi Celebrations organised by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) began with a massive 'Nagarsankeertana' rally in which several mutt heads, promiment music directors, writers and film directors and TTD Chairman B Karunakara Reddy participated at Rajampet in Kadapa District today.

The 10 km spiritual rally started from Degress College at Rajempet and converged at Tallapaka, where the TTD Board Chairman laid the foundation stone for a 100 feet high statue of Annamayya, who had composed 32,000 Keertans in praise of Lord Venkateswara.

The Chairman also laid the foundation stone for ''Annamayya Spiritual theme park'' at Tallapaka, the birth place of the saint poet.

Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, Kanchi Mutt, Sri Sushmeendra Swamy and Sri Surya Swamy of Raghvendra Mutt sent their speech to the devotees.
