4 held for extorting money from doctor
Ahmedabad, May 3 (UNI) The city police has arrested four persons in connection with the kidnapping of a physician and extorting Rs 13.5 lakh from him.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Dr Vishnubhai Patel, who runs his clinic in Patadi town of Surendranagar district and lives in Ghatlodia area of Ahmedabad, police yesterday arrested Yasinshah Motishah Fakir (42), Iqbalshah Mohemmedshah Fakir (27), Karimbhai Gulambhai Pathan (30) and Mohemmedfarooq Mohemmedsaleem Sheikh (24) and recovered Rs 11,000 and five cell phones from them.
According to police, the four had allegedly kidnapped Dr Patel on March 31. They told the doctor that his enemies had offered them Rs 25 lakh to kill him, but they would let him free if he paid them Rs 20 lakh.
The doctor paid Rs 13.5 lakh. But, the miscreants continued to harrass the doctor for money following which he lodged a complaint.
Interrogation of the four has revealed that the four were also involved in eleven cases of murder, attempt to murder, theft, robbery, kidnapping and violation of Arms Act, according to a police press note here.
