Andhra Pradesh: 4 electrocuted
Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, May 3: Four persons were electrocuted and eight injured when a 'pillar' made of metal rods and mounted on a cart accidentally hit an overhead power cable in the Harbour Town of Nizamapatnam this morning.
Police sources said three died on the spot while another breathed his last on way to the government hospital in Repalle Town.
Called 'Siri manu,' the 25-foot-high pillar was meant for the annual festival of village deity 'Modaramma'.
The pillar was being taken round the town.
Though the pillar is adjustable to duck overhead cables, the persons on the cart forgot to bring it down it leading to the mishap.
