4 corporators disqualified in AMC

Akola, May 3 (UNI) The ruling Congress-NCP alliance in Akola Municipal Corporation has received setback following the disqualification of four members from reserved wards.

Ms Azra Nasrin and Mr Sachhanand Lulla (both Congress), Rajkumar Mulchandani of NCP, and Iqbal Ahmed Qureshi of the Samajwadi Party have been disqualified for failing to prove their caste under the OBC category.

Following the disqualification, the strength of the alliance has been reduced to 27.

The Head of the Caste Verification Committee at Amrawati, Mr A J Ram, declared the four as disqualified after they failed to prove that they belonged to the OBC category.
