UPA is anti-women: BJP
Bangalore, May 2 (UNI) BJP Mahila Morcha President Kiran Maheshwari today termed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre ''anti-women'' as it has failed to introduce the Women's Reservation Bill in the current session of Parliament.
Talking to newspersons here, she said despite being in office for nearly three years, the UPA Government had failed to prepare even the draft legislation. ''This is inspite of the Opposition BJP's assurance to support the Bill, if tabled in Parliament,'' she added.
She said, ''This is the situation despite Ms Sonia Gandhi, a woman, being the Chairperson of the UPA.'' Ms Maheshwari said, ''Our aim in assuring support to the Bill is not for earning credit, but to see that women are empowered socially and economically.'' Coming down heavily on price rise, she alleged that the UPA Government was promoting black marketing by not curbing inflation.
