TRS rules out rejoining UPA unless Telangana State formed
Hyderabad, Mar 2 (UNI) Telangana Rashtra Samiti President K Chandrasekara Rao today made it clear that his party would rejoin the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre only if an announcement was made on formation of separate Telangana state.
Talking to newspersons here, he maintained that the party had received invitiation from the UPA leaders as also from some Congress leaders to rejoin the Manmohan Singh Government.
On All India Congress Committee General Secretary Digvijay Singh's reported statement that the Congress stood by its stand of forming Second States Reorganisation Commission, he remarked ''Mr Singh is singing the same old song''.
On Mr Singh's offer to the TRS to rejoin the UPA, Mr Rao said ''We have patiently waited for a long time for the UPA to announce the formation of Telangana state. We will rejoin the UPA Government only if a firm announcement was made on statehood for Telangana''.
There was a broad consensus on the formation of carving out Telangana from Andhra Pradesh, he claimed.
