SRA office fire: 'Sabotage' not ruled out

Mumbai, May 2 (UNI) The city police has not ruled out the hand of the ''builders lobby'' behind yesterday's fire in the office of the Slums Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), in which over 500 files pertaining to the SRA scheme were destroyed.

Investigating officer Vaibhavi Harne told UNI that investigations were progressing and they were in the process of filing a case'' Recently, several frauds in the SRA scheme had come to light. One such matter is pending in the Bombay High Court and is scheduled to come up for hearing tomorrow.

Upon learning about the fire in the SRA office, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths, who are investigating the fraud case, rushed to the spot immediately.

Yesterday's fire in the SRA office had broken out around 1845 hours. As, yesterday was a holiday on account of ''Maharashtra Day'' no one was injured.

Eight fire engines and three water tankers had brought the fire under control around 2245 hours.
