Seven held on charges of burglary

Vijayawada, May 2 (UNI) The city police today arrested seven persons on charges of robbing 30 soverigns of gold ornaments and five kilogram of silver articles from a house.

They were identified as Kranti, Riaz, Pradeep, Chandrasekhar, Kazavali, Venu and Anif, City West Assistant Commissioner of Police l Vijay Kumar told newspersons this evening.

The ACP said R Venkat Subba Rao, a pawn-broker in the city, was away with his family on April 26 and the accused noticing their absence had carried out the burglary and escaped with the booty.

Mr Rao, following his return to the city on the next day, had lodged a complaint with the police.

They would be produced before a Magistrate Court here tomorrow, Mr Kumar added.
