Security apparatus for poll in place in naxal-infested dist
Robertsganj, May 2 (UNI) Para military forces have been deployed in the naxalite prone areas of Sonebhadra district to ensure conducting free and fair election.
Election for the district's three assembly seats and Lok Sabha bypoll to Robertsganj constituency will be held tomorrow.
In the three assembly constituencies of Duddhi (reserved), Robertsganj (reserved) and Rajgarh, around 8.5 lakh voters would exercise their franchise at over 1,000 polling booths in 647 polling centres to select from 29 candidates.
Besides, 11 candidates are in fray for the Sonebhadra LS bypoll.
Since, 12 of the 16 police stations in Sonebhadra are declared naxal-infested, 146 polling centres have been declared as hyper-sensitive, official source today said.
A total of 57 companies of central forces and 13 companies of PAC and civil police have been deployed to tackle the menace of naxalites during the election.
The para commandos, led by Varanasi DIG, will carry out aerial surveillance in the naxal-affected areas.
Due to the increasing naxal activities in several areas, separate routes have been created for the electorate and polling officers to reach the polling centres.
