Ranvir Sena supremo gets bail

Patna, May 02 (UNI) Patna High court today allowed the regular bail petition of the banned Ranvir Sena supremo Barmeshwar Singh alias Mukhia in connection with Shankarbigha massacre in the extremists affected Jehanabad district in 1999.

A single bench of the court of Justice Madhavendra Saran allowed the bail plea after hearing both the parties.

The petitioner contended that during entire investigation no direct evidence was found against him showing his involvement in the massacre.

During hearing, the counsel of the petitioner argued that his client is in judicial custody since 2002 and till date charges had not been framed against him.

Mr Singh is presently lodged in Bhagalpur jail.
