Rahul to take UP's development task: Sahai

Gorakhpur, May 2 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and Union Minister of State for Food Processing Subodh Kant Sahai today said Uttar Pradesh was lagging behind in development race and party MP Rahul Gandhi had taken up the task to improving the situation in the state.

''Development is the sole priority of Congress and only Rahul can change the face of UP, which he has promised in his recent roadshows,'' Mr Sahai said.

''The non-Congress governments in the last few years have only hindered UP's development...only Congress can now help the situation, if it regains power in UP.'' Mr Sahai said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also spoke about the basic problems prevailing in UP in his election meeting here yesterday.

''The party wants welfare of people, which is the priority for AICC president Sonia Gandhi.'' Reiterating that Congress would win the ongoing UP assembly poll, he alleged the party has great expectations from the areas going to poll under sixth and seventh phases.

Claiming the Congress would form the government with a majority, the Congress leader urged the people to vote for the party and support Rahul in his endeavour.
