Philips India Ltd launches water purifier

Mumbai, May 2: Philips Electronics India Ltd, subsidiary of Netherlands-based Royal Philips Electronics, today announced the launch of 'Philips Intelligent water purifier' in the Indian market.

The new product, that marks Philips' entry into the country's water purification appliance market, has been powered with novel technical features including advanced UV technology and activated carbon to purify water, K Ramachandran, Chief executive officer, said.

''The new product is expected to evoke a welcome resposne in the market with features including rechargeable battery back up, power save function and pure protect alert'', he said.

The Indian water purifier appliance market has been estimated to stand around Rs 450 crore, market sources said.

Philips, which has been operating in the country for over 75 years, has a total headcount of 4000 employees in India.

The new product will be available to customers in the price range of Rs 8500-Rs 12,500 and will hit the market by the end of september across 90 cities in the country.
