MP mulling multi-purpose e-ration card

Bhopal, May 2: The Madhya Pradesh government is mulling to introduce multi-purpose e-ration cards to its citizens.

The proposed ration card will serve the purpose of identity card, besides identifying the beneficiaries for various schemes and public distribution system, official sources said today.

The proposal for introducing the electronic ration card was discussed at a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here yesterday.

Mr Chouhan suggested coordination among information technology, food, cooperatives and other departments for studying various aspects of preparing the new ration card.
