Metal prices up on better buying support

Mumbai, May 2 (UNI) Metal prices were up on better buying support, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In ferrous section, copper heavy and brass utensil edged up by Rs 400 and Rs 200 per quintal respectively due to higher advice. Copper utensil and brass cutting also rose by Rs 300 per quintal each on reduced stock supply.

In non-ferrous section, copper wire bar and zinc slab also inched up by Rs 600 and Rs 200 per quintal respectively on heavy demand from retailers.

Tin slab eased by Rs five per kg on lack of fresh demand while Nickel cathode rose due to improved demand.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 35,900, Copper utensils - Rs 33,500, Brass utensils - Rs 26,000, Brass cuttings - Rs 27,300 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 12,000.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 39,800, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,400, Zinc slabs - Rs 19,600, Lead ingots - Rs 10,000, Tin slab - Rs 755 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 2,320 (per kg).
