Man killed as Avadh Express hits tractor, 5 injured

Gonda, May 2 (UNI) One person died and five others were seriously injured, when Bandra-Gorakhpur Avadh Express hit a tractor-trolley at an unmanned railway crossing here this morning.

North-Eastern Railway sources told UNI that the accident took place some distance from Maijapur. Tractor driver Mata Prasad died on the spot.

Five others aboard the tractor-trolley sustained injuries and were admitted to the Gonda railway hospital.

Four of the injured were identified as Matiwar, Sadre Alam (both of Maharajganj district), Ramavadh Sahni (Deoria district) and Mukesh of Gopalganj district, Bihar.

A group of people resorted to stone-pelting to protest the incident. Loco inspector Feroz Khan of a railway relief team sustained head injuries.

Railway traffic was disrupted for two hours after the incident.
