Make eye donation campaign a social movt: Vajpayee

New Delhi, May 2: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today said the eye donation campaign should be run effectively and turned into a social movement.

''Through a social movement, the misconception about eye donation should be removed, and the public motivated to donate their eyes,'' he said.

The BJP stalwart was speaking at his residence to the members of the All India Drishtiheen Kalyan Sangh (AIDKS) who are on a three-week yatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to spread awareness about eye donation.

The yatra, which began on April 22, traversed Western Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jammu, Haryana, to reach Delhi.

During their Delhi halt, the participants would meet Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Leader of the Opposition L K Advani, among other BJP leaders.

The yatra will end on May 13.
